REMEMBER

I am deeply saddened by the events of February 12th, 2009. Off the South East coast of Newfoundland, a Cougar Helicopter carrying 18 passengers and crew headed out to go to work on both the Sea Rose and the Hibernia oil platforms. After the helicopter had flown about 90 kms, they sent a radio message to shore and said they were having technical difficulties and were returning to St. John's. At 9:18am, that plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. Approximately 45 minutes later, one sole survivor was plucked from the water and airlifted to St. John's where he now is in critical condition at the St. John's Health Sciences Center. After several hours of searching by the Canadian Coast Guard, The Canadian Forces, and local agencies, only one poor soul has been recovered. Still, 16 men and women are missing. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who are still missing as well as to their family and friends. At the same time, I am so thankful that my Father was not on that flight today. My Father is working right now on the Sea Rose. The missing, dead, and the recovered are all know by my Father. He has worked alongside of those people. Shared stories, ate meals, spent their downtime together. As the search continues, I will continue to pray for their rescue or recovery and I will also thank God that my Father is safe and sound. Please, as you go about your day, be thankful for your loved ones, family, and friends, and say a little prayer for those who are missing today. Remember.
